The holiday season brings hot tub season, especially during Michigan’s winter months.  However, more hot tub use could potentially mean more problems if your hot tub is not properly maintained.  The Blockco Pools team is here to make sure your hot tub is ready to go this holiday season.  If you are interested in understanding the top repair services during winter months and how to prevent them, you have come to the right place:

If Your Hot Tub Will Not Heat Up…

It can be annoying when your hot tub will not heat up properly, especially in the winter months when you want to relax in your hot tub the most.  If this is the case, there is a strong possibility your heater element or water pump may be acting up.  Most heating failures are caused by corrosion due to low pH.  If your water pH is low, it is easy to damage the heating element, and even trip the breaker.

To avoid heating failure, make sure to regularly check your hot tub’s pH.  If this is a problem you currently face, troubleshoot the heater by first checking the thermostat and filter for damage or corrosion, and then use a multimeter to help you identify which electrical components need replacing.

My Hot Tub Jets Will Not Work…

If your hot tub’s jets are misbehaving, the most common culprit is the hot tub pump.  When diagnosing hot tub pump issues, check the pump’s priming and your hot tub’s filters.  To ensure the priming is working properly, open the access panel and pump valve, so you can release air and allow more water to flow through the jets.  You can also unclog or replace hot tub filters to improve water flow.

My Hot Tub is Making Loud Noises…

Do us a favor: make sure to troubleshoot your hot tub if it starts to make any loud or odd noises.  No matter the sound – whether it be a grumbling or screech – it is important to check out the water pump first and foremost.  Removing clogs, topping off the water, and opening all valves should do the trick; however, a squealing sound typically means you will have to replace the water pump.

My GFCI Breaker Keeps Tripping…

GFCI tripping is a common problem with hot tubs, especially in the winter months.  In most cases, frequent GFCI tripping is easy to fix, but you will have to work with electricity in order to troubleshoot the problem.  Because of this, we recommend calling a pool or electrical expert to ensure proper safety.
