There is still time left! Although 2020 is coming to end, plenty of families are still investing in pool installations. If you need a quick snapshot of the best in-ground pools for you and your family, look no further:
Option #1: Vinyl Liner In-Ground Pools
Advantages
Vinyl in-ground pools are great for those who want a pool with a low budget but still tons of opportunity for fun. Typically, initial costs for a vinyl pool are between $5,000-$10,000 – lower than both concrete and fiberglass material options.
Additionally, if you are looking to customize your pool, a vinyl in-ground pool is a great option. There are very few limitations when it comes to designing a vinyl pool, as it is easy to create custom curves and sizes with today’s technology.
Disadvantages
Although vinyl-lined pools are cost-effective and customizable, upkeep costs will be higher than other pool types. Since the pool liner is made of a polymer, it will break down and must be replaced every ~10 years. The cost of a new liner sits between $3,000 and $7,000, depending on the pool size and shape.
Along with replacement costs, vinyl pools are generally less aesthetically pleasing than concrete or fiberglass pools ant do not add value to your home. However, if you are just looking for some summer fun, you should certainly consider installing a vinyl in-ground pool.
Option #2: Concrete In-Ground Pools
Advantages
Concrete in-ground pools are extremely customizable, and it is easy to design a concrete pool to fit any size, shape, or depth – depending on your preferences. Concrete in-ground pools also add value to your property and can be used as an asset when selling your home.
Disadvantages
The added value to you home does come with drawbacks, though. In comparison to other in-ground pool options, concrete pools require hefty maintenance to keep the material and water clean. Resurfacing is needed every ~10 years, and weekly chemical treatment and brushing is needed to maintain the pool.
On top of this, if you are looking to build an in-ground pool quickly, you should probably look elsewhere. On average, it takes nearly three months from to start to finish, which can be frustrating for homeowners.
Option #3: Fiberglass In-Ground Pools
Advantages
If you are looking for a reasonably priced in-ground pool with minimal maintenance, the fiberglass pool is for you. Because of the smooth surface these pools are known for, it is difficult for algae to grow on fiberglass pools; and when salt chlorinator is used, it is close to impossible.
Fiberglass pools can also be installed in a very short amount of time – even quicker than vinyl-lined pools! In less than a week, you can have a pre-fabricated pool shipped and installed to your liking.
Disadvantages
The pre-fabrication process limits dimensions and customizability of a fiberglass pool, due to the needs of site transportation. If you’re looking for specific pool dimensions, contact us and ask if we can help fit your needs.
